Eden Council & Deacons

Eden Council

The Eden Council is comprised of elders and non-elders within and outside Eden Church, and are the governing body accountable for the business operations and liabilities of the 501(c)3 organization of Eden Church. Accordingly, the Council is responsible for:

Finance and Compensation. The Council oversees Eden Church’s annual budget, advises elders and staff on spending patterns, and approves/denies all major financial decisions including staff compensation and benefits and capital assets investments.
Human Resources, Legal and Compliance. The Council works with the elders on the recruiting, employment, annual evaluation, promotion, and (if necessary) the dismissal of Eden employees, as well as risk management and legal compliance across all Eden operations.
Architecture for the future. The Council provides the first line of feedback and accountability to the elders in processing the future vision of the church and guide the elders on how to best architect the future of Eden Church organizationally in order to realize that vision.

Deacons

In the early church, the office of Deacon emerged to help the church accomplish its mission of making disciples. Deacons were first appointed in the New Testament in order to help care for the practical needs of people who had responded to the call of Jesus. In response to a growing need, Elders appointed deacons to administratively and pastorally steward the work of the church and the Spirit. These were leaders (men and women) who were full of faith and the Holy Spirit, who demonstrated obvious Godly character, and were trusted with the responsibility of meeting these important needs amongst the people of God.

At Eden Church, we hope our deacons will carry on this legacy of faith and mission as was characterized by the first Deacons.
